Specifications

Specifications of Custom Cages:

1.  Custom Cages, 1/3rd-2/3rds, AKA: as half cages, are patented by the
manufacturer in design and concept.  Cages for patrol vehicle are designed
to interchange in Ford Crown Victorias, Taurus, Chevrolet Caprice, Impalas,
Luminas and Dodge Intrepid.  Many other vehicle can also be fitted,
provided they have 4 doors.  Only bracket length and location adjustments
need to be made.

2.  Custom Cages barrier cage frames are constructed of 1” x 1” x 1/8th”
angle steel.  Each frame is made of one piece of steel, formed into a
specific shape and welded securely.

3.  Custom Cages barrier screens are of one piece,  3/4 x 9 x 1/8th”   flat
expanded metal, cut to fit the respective frame.  The screens are welded on
all points of contact to the barrier frames.  The screens and brackets are
then painted.  Each cage is supplied with instructions, installation Video, and all mounting brackets and fasteners.

4.  Custom Cage uses only new manufacture materials, (NO RUST or SCRAP)
steel.  Door post brackets are constructed from 2” x 1/8th” flat steel.
The Lower rear window bracket uses 1” to 1- 1/4” x 1/8” flat steel.   The
upper rear window bracket is constructed of 2’ x 1/8th” flat steel.  The
floor bracket is constructed of 4” x 1/8th” flat steel.

5.  Custom Cage uses new production mild steel fasteners. Substitution of some fasteners may void product liability .  Collisions to the passenger side of the patrol vehicle allow the cage to move away from the crash, provided supplied fasteners are used.
Depending on the severity of the crash, no damage from the cage should
occur to the drivers side.  With conventional full length cages, damage
usually occurs to both sides.   Attachments to the patrol vehicle are made
at the bodys strongest points using mild steel fasteners,  14 x 2” self
tapping screws and 1/4” x 3” stove bolts. at the floor and rear deck.  The
front frame portion of the barrier cage is covered after complete assembly
with a plastic foam insulation to cushion the suspects head and knees
should they become violent or lose their balance upon entry or exit.

6.  WARNING!!!!  Suspects should always be searched and secured in the
caged area and seatbelted with the factory installed restraining device.
Suspects hands should be secured behind their backs.  Suspects should never
be attached to the barrier screen with any other restraining devices.

All of Custom Cages vehicle applications are designed to be not only safe,
but functional.
The employees of  Custom Cage want to see every officer finish their shift
and go home to their familys.  We also wish to maintain a degree of comfort
for the driver, and to allow room for equipment organization.
